GolGazette compares football odds, publishes match picks and statistics, and covers football news. This page explains in plain language where our numbers come from, how our picks are made and what we do to stay independent.
Where does our data come from?
Fixtures, results, league tables, player statistics, bookmaker odds and match predictions come from Sportmonks, a professional football data provider.
Odds are refreshed about every 15 minutes, league tables and statistics every hour. The odds, tips and stats pages show when their data was last updated.
We show each bookmaker's price as the bookmaker publishes it and highlight the best available price for every outcome. Prices move quickly, so always check the price on the bookmaker's site before you bet.
How are our picks made?
Our picks come from a statistical match model, provided by Sportmonks, that estimates the probability of a home win, a draw and an away win from historical match data.
When a bookmaker offers a higher price than the model's fair price for an outcome, that is a value bet, and the pick is the value bet with the biggest edge. When there is no value bet, the pick is the outcome the model rates most likely.
Nobody adjusts the picks by hand, and bookmakers cannot influence them.
How do I read a probability?
A 60% chance means that in ten matches like this one, the model would expect that result about six times, and not in the other four. Picks are estimates, not certainties: even the strongest pick loses regularly.
What do the stars mean?
Stars show how likely the model rates the pick: three stars from a 60% probability, two from 45%, and one below that. The Value bet badge marks picks where a bookmaker's price beats the model's fair price.

Our news articles are drafted with the help of AI from reports by established sports media. An editor reviews and approves every article before it is published; nothing is published automatically.
